11-19-2021 – Finishing Diacritics & Beginning Phonology of Your Conlang

To be up to date, make sure you have posted/published your phonologies for Mandarin, Koine Greek, and Spanish (indicate the sounds you missed, maybe with a different font color). Also post your answers to the related questions. Also, please take a stab at vowel charts for your three languages and compare them to an online source, to each other, and to English). Try this IPA quiz (British accent). Compare your Mandarin IPA chart to this one. Create a blog post about the two, noting discrepancies and anything you noticed / learned. This week, complete IPA charts for the other languages you're learning (Spanish, Greek). What sounds were included in all of the languages? What sounds weren't in any of the languages? 11-5-2021 – Review, Diacritics, Suprasegmentals, and Other Symbols

IN CLASS Try this JetPunk quiz  - It's challenging because it's in a British accent. Sound them out and I'll type for you so you don't have to worry about spelling. Re-take this quiz and copy down into your binder all symbols you don't know. We'll learn/study them this week. Lastly, try this one on diacritics  and start learning the ones you didn't get. It's not specifically based on the IPA but these are common diacritics used in various languages. It's a good start. IPA SYMBOLS Building on some of our learning of the phonetic symbols, for homework, fill in the below chart as much as possible for at least one of the languages that you're learning (Mandarin, Greek, or Spanish).
